Projects with Pride

Behind every classic lies its own story — and every project calls for an approach to match. From a thoroughly rebuilt gearbox to a full restoration: here I show where craftsmanship, experience and an eye for detail come together. No two projects are the same, but they have one thing in common: they are made to leave the workshop with pride.

Volvo P1800

Throughout the process I consult closely with the owner. Together we consider the famous little seam beneath the headlamp and the indicator: do you go for smooth and smoother, or do you keep the original factory fit that gives the P1800 its unique look? It is a well-known debate in the classic car world. As the owner is just as much a purist as I am, we share the same vision. By listening carefully and applying my expertise, together we set the right course between flawless perfection and the preservation of authenticity.

Dana 30 - Differential

When rebuilding a Dana 30 differential, everything revolves around precise tolerances and a keen eye for internal wear. A persistent whine and play in the shafts often point to a deeper problem than just worn bearings. By replacing the worn parts and setting up the crown wheel and pinion precisely, the drivetrain is ready for many quiet kilometres again.

Not every job arrives as a clean slate. Sometimes there is a car on the drive that has already been on quite a journey, through other workshops, with other promises that were not kept. This Volvo 244 with its B23 engine came to me in exactly that way — with a history of six previous rebuilds and the same stubborn problem every time. It was a job that called for patience and precision, and above all for going back to basics.

M40 to an M41 + J-type overdrive

Not every fault announces itself with a loud bang. Sometimes it is a subtle noise that only becomes noticeable when accelerating, specifically in one gear, and slowly begins to gnaw at your confidence. That was exactly the case with this M41, with a resonance when accelerating in third gear that was irritating enough to make the drive feel as if something could go wrong. Sensibly, action was taken in time — once a gearbox goes wrong, it can easily take the whole drivetrain down with it when it seizes.

VW T4 camper van

Not every job stays what it seemed on arrival. Sometimes a vehicle rolls into the workshop for a simple treatment, and only during the work do you discover how much is really needed. This 2006 VW T4 camper came to me in exactly that way: for a Tectyl rust-proofing treatment. Under the dirt, it turned out that every load-bearing part needed attention. What started as protection became a restoration, in which patience, precision and craftsmanship made the difference.

In the media

What started with a cheap DAF 46 as my first car has grown into my profession. I weld, wrench and restore classics, for myself and for customers. That work has also caught the eye of specialist magazines. Below you can read what Onschatbare Klassieker, AutoWeek Classics and the VKV club magazine wrote about me and my cars. Twice with the verdict of an independent valuer.
